Gift Design Concepts for Han Qin
Developed during a four-day design sprint, this project explores a series of print and gift concepts translating Han Qin’s artworks into formats for a potential entrepreneurship event. The proposals range from collectible cards and folded print pieces to an interactive cyanotype kit, exploring how the artist’s visual language could connect with themes of innovation, collaboration, and growth. AI was used for rapid visual prototyping and mockup generation. All concepts, structure, interaction logic, and art direction were developed by me.
Cyanotype Maker Kit
Inspired by the wandering figures in Han Qin’s cyanotype Floating Clouds series, I was interested in the themes of movement, uncertainty, exploration, and finding direction through unfamiliar environments.
Rather than turning the artwork into a static printed gift, I wanted recipients to participate in creating their own version of it. I developed a cyanotype kit that uses Han Qin’s floating figures as movable elements, allowing each person to reflect on their own startup journey through composition and sunlight.
Across three small prints, recipients create a personal triptych tracing where they began, what shaped their path, and where they are now. The finished set becomes both a reflection on their journey and a collectible artwork unique to each person.
Recipients arrange reusable figures from the Floating Clouds series onto three pre-coated cyanotype cards. Each composition represents a different point in their journey: where they began, what shaped the way, and where they are now. Together, the three prints form a personal triptych.
The kit includes reusable figures adapted from poses in Han Qin’s
Floating Clouds series. Different poses and transparency levels
allow recipients to build their own compositions, while opaque and
semi-transparent figures create different cyanotype traces.
Accordion-Fold Thank-You Card
I developed the piece as a five-panel accordion fold. When closed, each figure reads as an isolated individual suspended on its own; as the card opens, the figures gradually become physically connected and form a continuous group. This transformation became a way to translate the startup journey from individual exploration into collaboration and shared momentum.
The idea also responds to the event context: while each founder begins from an individual idea, that idea rarely develops alone. Support, encounters, partnerships, and trust gradually create a larger network around it. The unfolding card turns that shift from separation to connection into something the recipient can physically experience.
Collectible Card
This concept translates Han Qin’s Internal Drifting into a compact collectible card format. Rather than functioning only as event material, the card is designed as a small keepsake that recipients could keep on a desk, place in a book, or use as a bookmark.
