I used the act of crunching a leaf as a metaphor for social commentary, exploring themes of breaking silence, the abuse of societal tools like laws and social media, and the dehumanizing effects of mechanization, which diminishes our interaction with each other and the world. These ideas unfold across three lessons— crunching a leaf by foot or hand, by tool, and by machine.
